The Tianjin Xiqing Economic Development Area was founded in 1992.

·Geographical Location:

It is situated to the south of Tianjin proper. Its planned area is 4 sq.km with good water supply and air quality. It is 8 km. from the downtown area, 15 km. from Tianjin International Airport and 30 km. from the Tianjin Port.

·Infrastructure:

The supply of electricity, water supply and drainage, fuel gas, geothermal heating, water and telecommunication facilities are all available in the zone. Roads are connected and the land leveled.

·Industries:

The Xiqing district is an important industrial base focusing on the automobile-related industry, including power, electric motors and machinery manufacturing. The zone's industry is concentrated on four sectors:

- Electronic industry, including large scale integrated circuit, computers, semi-conductor parts and components, finished electronic products etc;

- Automobile and machinery industry, including motor spare parts and components, digitally-controlled machine tool and other mechanical and electrical products;

- Bio-engineering and pharmaceutical industry, including the production of industrial enzymes, insulin and other pharmaceuticals;

- Fine chemical industry.

Over 2,000 enterprises have registered in the zone and companies from 13 countries and regions have built factories here. The total contractual investment from overseas has reached US$1.26 billion.
