The Tianjin Tanggu Marine High-Tech Development Area
was founded in 1992 and is the only State-level high-tech
development zone on mainland China dedicated primarily
to the maritime Hi-Tech industry. It is also an important
part of the high-tech industrial belt along the Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu
expressway.
¡¤Geographical Location:
It is located at the Tanggu exit of the expressway
and enjoys convenient transportation. The preliminary
phase has an area of 4.5 sq.km and the total planned
area will be 24.5 sq.km.
¡¤Infrastructure:
In the preliminary area, the supply of electricity,
water, heating, drainage and telecommunications have
been fully prepared. Roads have been paved and land
leveled. The conditions for investment are excellent.
¡¤Industries:
The range of industries cover maritime chemicals,
maritime antiseptic paints, comprehensive utilization
of seawater, electronics and bio-engineering.
Over 1,300 projects have been approved, 370 of which
involve overseas capital. The gross contractual investment
has reached US$800 million, of which US$400 million
is actual foreign investment used. A project for composite
aviation material production initiated by the American
Boeing Corporation and China Air Aviation General
Corporation is in operation in the zone.
