(7) The Food Street/The Hotel Street

In the very centre of the city castel-style twin structures stand side by side: one of them is the Food Street, the other the Hotel Street. The so-called "Food Street" is one square block with a gate on each side. No matter which gate you take, you will inevitably be overwhelmed by the dazzling, delicious food.

The restaurants here represent both new and traditional names in Tianjin, serving all of China's eight major cuisines including Sichuan, Guangdong (Cantonese), hunan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Beijing, Shanxi and Muslim food. Spend a few days in the street and you can sample a taste of everything: imperial food, seafood, local snacks, Western food--you just name it. Wherever you come from you are bound to savour the variety that is the ancient Chinese food culture.

After a nice meal you walk west out of the Xingge (Singing) Gate and into the Hotel Street, which is ready to provide you with luxurious rooms and hospitality.

(8) The Panshan Mountain

The Panshan Mountain has long been known as the No.1 Mountain in the area east of Beijing. Its deep ravines, strangely shaped rocks, pine trees, clean streams, temples and pagodas are well known throughout China.

The undulating mountain range, topped with piercing peaks, can be divided into three parts. The upper part is famous for pine trees, the central part for rocks and the lower part for streams.

In olden days, people, enchanted by the quietness and magnificense of the Panshan Mountain, built temples, pavilions and pagodas there. During the Han Dynasty, the Xianglin Temple was erected, followed by the construction of many similar temples in the ensuing dynasties. Among these is the Tiancheng Temple with its elegant architecture. The 13-storey, octagonal Sheli Stupa, yellow in colour, stands 22.63 metres high. The Woyun Pavilion is considered an ideal place to enjoy the weather and at Guayue Peak visitors may watch the rising sun. When the first streak of sunlight dawns on the mountain grass and tress, people are filled with a new and unforgettable vitality.
