¡¡ Project Profile:
¡¡In order to set up the system of improved beef cattle in
the counties and villages and increase the coverage of improved
beef cattle, the project makes use of the technology of
China Agriculture Science Institute to begin the high-grade
cattle production in the possible places and supplies directly
to the Tianjin and Beijing. The main place is settled in
Jixian County. An improved-beef- cattle system will be set
up, which has a reasonable setting, complete facilities
and advanced technology. Importing advanced cattle species
in the world and conducting artificial insemination will
ensure the annual increasing number of 30,000 cattle by
means of artificial insemination breeding. High quality
cows and commercial cattle will increase about 15,000 per
year. The goal is that the coverage of the high quality
cattle will be 90% by the end of the year 2005.

¡T The emphasis is put on Jixian County and Baodi County.
Further steps will be taken to improve the cattle breeding.
Three modern cattle improvement centers will be set up in
Jixian County and Baodi County. Fifteen necessary artificial
insemination stations will also be built.
¡¡ Social and Economic Benefit:
¡¡ The annual number of improved cows and commercial cattle
is 15,000 respectively. The coverage of improved beef cattle
is up to 10%. The average profit of per improved cattle
will increase 300-500 yuan.
