¡¡ Project Profile:
¡¡The project aims to take advantage of livestock farming
in Tianjin to realize the modernization of the livestock
farming. It is also an effective measure taken to adjust
the livestock structure and increase farmers' income. Preliminary
plan is worked out to set up an influential stud pig group
in three stages. It will take 3-5 years to complete the

project. Specific works falls into three steps: In the first
step, a solid foundation will be laid to better the quality
testing system and artificial fertilization system in original
stud pig farm. The overall breeding level and supplying
capacity will be upgraded by enlarging the scale of City-level
stud breeding farm and renovating related equipment. In
the second step, great efforts are made to develop the way
of joint breeding by taking Ninghe State-level stud farm
as a leading unit and combining Wuqing stud breeding farm
and other 8 stud farms. In the third step, one or two years
of combination practice provides rich work experience and
improves breeding technology. On this base, Tianjin Stud
Pig Breeding Group will be set up.
¡¡ Construction
Scale and Content:
¡T (1) Establishment of a well-assorted quality testing system
of stud pig in stud pig farm. (2) A artificial fertilization
system will be set up in the city with Ninghe farm as the
center and lay a solid foundation of joint stud breeding.
(3) The reconstruction and expanding construction of ten
stud breeding farms will be completed. As a result, a modernized
stud pig breeding system will be formed with rational layout
and advanced equipment. There are 2400 stud pigs in stock
with annual supplying capacity of 40,000 baby stud pigs.
After the project, stud pigs in stock will up to 7000 pigs
with the annual supplying capacity of 100,000 baby stud
pigs.
¡¡ Social and Economic Benefit:
¡¡The construction of stud pig testing station in Ninghe
farm will upgrade the testing level to advanced level in
China. Efficient testing index will provide more scientific
and detailed information for selection and breeding of stud
pigs to ensure a leading status in quality testing of stud
pigs in the country and hence make the stud pigs more competitive
in domestic market.Building of artificial fertilization
station in Ninghe farm will speed up the popularization
of good breeds, break region limitation and increase coverage
of good breed sperm. Meanwhile, the number of male stud
pigs will be reduced by 95%, and therefore production cost
will be greatly cut down. Artificial fertilization may avoid
spreading of diseases. Completion of the project will alleviate
the "bottleneck" limitation due to the small scale
of stud breeding farm in Tiinjin. It is estimated that a
tri-hybrid pig can profit 70 Yuan more than a ordinary pig.
The project plans to increase 300,000 tri-hybrid pigs per
year and thus the farmers' income will increase 21 million.
